Book NowLocated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) Lindfield is a beautiful village in the heart of Mid-Sussex with a wonderful pond and village green/common, used for many village activities including cricket. The pretty lime tree lined high street is flanked with many beautiful period houses and cottages as well as a selection of shops.
The parish Church, All Saints, stands at the top of the High Street and its history goes back to 1098, one of the oldest houses in the village is Church House, formerly known as The Tiger, and still referred to, by locals as “The Tiger”.
At the bottom of the High Street the natural spring-fed pond has fish, ducks, and herons. Beyond lies the Common which is central to village celebrations and leisure activities
Lindfield was once part of the thriving Wealden iron industry. As early as 1539, William Levett of Buxted, a county curate with a thriving side-line in iron and armaments, was recorded as extracting iron ore at Lindfield. Later the Henslowe family of Lindfield were actively engaged in the iron milling business. Today many Linfield residents take advantage of living in a delightful rural village with the opportunity of the fast main line railway to Gatwick, London and the coast from Haywards Heath station just over 2 miles away.
The area has much to offer all generations, from excellent schooling, commuting, good road networks and thriving social amenities which cover all age groups.
