Matthew-Braxton

Matthew Braxton BSc

Partner

After graduating in Estate Management in 1992, I chose to go straight into Estate Agency. Over the years I have gathered extensive experience in all aspects of property, however I specialise in land, farms and equestrian property. I feel lucky to head an extraordinarily talented and motivated team here at the Battle Office. Away from the office I enjoy all aspects of country life, from growing my wild flower meadow to caring for my suckler herd of Sussex Cattle.

Carl Underhill

Associate Partner

Having graduated from Kent University, I have been in Estate Agency for well over 30 years now, with much of that time spent with a leading firm in Central and North London. I moved to Battle with my wife and 4 children in 2014 and was lucky enough to join the hugely experienced and successful team at the Battle office in 2019. In my spare time I enjoy beach walks with my family, playing golf (badly), the gym, and I am an avid reader.

Lisa Kerry

Associate Negotiator

I have worked for Batcheller Monkhouse for over 20 years. I started my career in Estate Agency in 1983 with the firm Braxtons and later joined Batcheller Thacker (now Batcheller Monkhouse) in Battle in 1999. I have always lived in East Sussex and moved to Rye 10 years ago. Family and friends are important to me. In my spare time I enjoy swimming, cycling, walking, church and I am a member of the WI and a local community singing group.

Robert Batcheller

Consultant

Estate agency has been my life-long career and passion. Firstly, as a Partner with Braxtons a highly respected firm in East Sussex. Secondly establishing Batcheller Thacker in 1991 at Battle concentrating in the sale of country houses and cottages. Since that time the firm has expanded into other disciplines and merged to form Batcheller Monkhouse. My wife and I greatly enjoy our equestrian interests, especially eventing, together with gardening, dog walking and having fun.

Kim Abbott

Associate, New Homes

I have been involved with property for more than 40 years. 16 of those years are in land and new homes through-out the South East. Having always lived in East Sussex, I have great knowledge of the area and offer a complete and tailored marketing campaign to showcase developments. Away from work, I greatly enjoy family time with my young grandchildren.

Charlotte Steele MARLA

Lettings Manager

I grew up in Burwash and then Tunbridge Wells but left the area to study Education at University. I moved to London in early 2012 to start my first job in Estate Agency, as a Lettings Negotiator, in Battersea. After working in lettings in South West London for 6 years, including a role within Lettings Compliance, I obtained the ARLA qualification in December 2017. At the start of 2018 I decided to move back to Tunbridge Wells, to be closer to family, where I worked locally for four and a half years before joining Batcheller Monkhouse at the end of 2022. In my free time I enjoy local fetes and events and exploring the Kent and Sussex countryside.

Jacky Finch

Lettings Assistant

I have enjoyed a successful career predominantly in residential Lettings. This began over 20 years ago for a firm in Sevenoaks. I later joined a national firm of Chartered Surveyors and Estate Agents, attaining my FARLA accreditation in 2005. In 2015 I was ready for a change and moved to a new home by the sea. I joined Batcheller Monkhouse in 2020. Aside from my family, outside of work I enjoy reading, walking and being with our cat, Buddy.

Fiona Taylor

Secretary

My secretarial career began in a hospital, audio typing and deciphering doctors’ handwriting. I have worked for solicitors, social workers and the National Trust. I later decided to go self-employed with a wider variety of clients, one being Batcheller Thacker. I now focus entirely on Batcheller Monkhouse. I enjoy spending time with my partner, my family and my dog, and horses have always been part of my life.

Carly Williams

Lettings Accounts Administrator

I have over 20 years experience in Credit Control and financial administration, and I pride myself on my diligence and hard work which led me to Batcheller Monkhouse 7 years ago. Throughout my employment history within wildly varying sectors, I want to deal with clients with a happy disposition and enthusiastic approach. I love spending time with my family and walking my dog, any chance I get.

Kate Braxton

Accounts Assistant

My family background has always been involved in property, with my father starting his estate agency business on his dining room table in the 1950’s. I initially trained as a bi-lingual secretary and worked in London for many years, before becoming a full-time mother. During that time, I ran a small catering company with my sister and we catered for many Batcheller Monkhouse events. I started working as a Viewing Assistant for the Battle Office in 2018 and then joined the Accounts Department in 2022. I love everything to do with the countryside (horses, dogs and long walks). I am learning to play the double bass.

Outside of the office I enjoy cycling, seaside walks and being in the garden.

Sophie Marland Bsc (Hons)

I developed my interest in Marketing whilst studying International Business Management at The Royal Agricultural University, Cirencester where I graduated with a BSc (Hons) in 2019. I have experience in the events industry, having worked at several venues. I joined the Marketing Department at Batcheller Monkhouse in 2022. Away from the office I enjoy spending time with my family and friends and all aspects of living in the countryside, in particular walking my dog on our family farm in East Sussex.

Rebecca Butler

PR Consultant

A family background in property, drew me to estate agency and I first met Robert Batcheller in 1976. In 1987 he offered me the opportunity to work for Braxtons, to run the Battle office, which under my care became the most profitable office for the firm in the South East. In 1991 I joined Robert Batcheller with Charles Thacker as they started Batcheller Thacker. I have made sure to keep abreast of technology and electronic advancements which enabled me to take the challenge of forming a marketing department for Batcheller Thacker at its merger in 2011 with Monkhouse and Bannisters. I enjoy all things equestrian, walking the dog, and many creative hobbies.
