Batcheller Monkhouse Planning Team has secured permission for a care home extension of 24-bedrooms at an existing facility in Tenterden, Kent. We worked closely with Mark Horner Architects and the owners to present an innovative scheme to upgrade and modernise the facilities provided at Breton Court. Reconfiguration of the existing building as well as the introduction of an additional building aim to improve the quality of life for existing residents as well as provide additional frailty and dementia care facilities for the local community in  and around Tenterden.

Care Home Extension

Local opposition was expressed and a number of planning issues required detailed examination as the site is partially within the AONB and contains a number of trees protected by TPO. Parking and traffic generation were of concern locally as was the impact of the development surrounding residential amenities. We successfully secured consent from Ashford Borough Council planning committee against Officer’s recommendation for refusal.
