In September 2024, our Rural, Agency, Lettings, Telecoms and Planning Professionals had great success attending Laughton Ploughing Match and the Weald of Kent Ploughing Match.

The first Ploughing Match Batcheller Monkhouse attended in 2024 was Laughton Ploughing Match on Wednesday 18 September. The event was held at Church Farm, Littlington, East Sussex, by kind permission of the Ellis Family.
Despite moderate winds, the event was bustling with visitors and local farmers. The day featured over 10 tractor and plough classes, heavy horse displays, tractor rides, and fruit and vegetable competitions. Our stand attracted landowners, farmers, and contractors from across the South East, keen to learn about Batcheller Monkhouse’s services.

We were delighted to once again sponsor the Education Section. Pupils from local schools were invited to learn about the countryside and farming.
Our team had great conversations with clients about Natural Capital opportunities, Permitted Development and more, all while serving locally sourced pork pie and Long Man Brewery beer. Thank you to everyone who entered our two competitions, ‘Can You Guess The Pig Breed?’ and ‘Guess The Correct Price’.

It was a fantastic day, providing a valuable opportunity to reconnect with familiar faces and network within the agricultural community.
Weald of Kent Ploughing Match
The Weald of Kent was held on Saturday 21 September at Honey Farm, Pluckley, Kent by kind permission of Mr D Gwillim. The day was full of activities for all to enjoy, from terrier racing, gun dog demonstrations and a bird of prey display to tossing the sheaf and a tug of war. It was a brilliant day with beautiful weather, and it was great to see both familiar and new faces.

We were thrilled to once again have The Mobile Coffee Bean on our stand providing delicious, freshly brewed drinks throughout the day. Our staff thoroughly enjoyed networking with landowners, farmers and agricultural experts. There were many discussions about updates on the latest rural grants, legislation and the property market.
We were pleased to sponsor a ring at the Weald of Kent Ploughing Match Horse Show again this year. The show, run entirely by volunteers, aims to raise funds for local charities.
