Compliance with the necessary regulatory and legislative requirements remains a priority and includes the introduction of the Electrical Safety Standards in the Private Rented Sector (England) Regulations 2020.
The Regulations were passed by Parliament on 18 March 2020 and will come into force for new tenancies from 1 July 2020 and all existing tenancies from 1 April 2021, requiring every fixed electrical installation at the property to be inspected and tested at least every five years by a qualified person. Please Note: Tenancy renewals will be classed as new tenancies and hence the regulations will apply. http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2020/312/introduction/made
For our ‘fully managed’ clients, we will be making the necessary arrangements to ensure that your properties / tenancies remain fully compliant and if an EICR (Electrical Installation Condition Report) has not been carried out within the last 5 years, an inspection will be instructed.
Should you wish to know more, the attached Fact Sheet provides a summary of the Government’s latest advice on complying with the new rules considering the Coronavirus pandemic. Read Fact Sheet
