On Saturday the 23rd of September 2023, staff from our Rural Department in Pulborough, West Sussex attended Petworth Ploughing Match.
A great time was had by all at Petworth Ploughing Match at Burchetts Farm, Wisborough Green, Billingshurst, West Sussex. The sun shined throughout the day and this was reflected by a higher than normal attendance. Batcheller Monkhouse was represented left to right by Sophie Lawes, Ed Cheevers, Harry Broadbent-Combe and Alex Wilks (with Flax!). Ed says: ‘’Although conventional tillage is somewhat now falling out of favour, the Ploughing Match is an important part of our agricultural history and what’s better, it is a brilliant day out for all – especially on a sunny Autumn day’’.
There were many activities happening from ploughing and heavy horse displays to domestic classes. Rosettes were awarded for the ‘Best Cake’, ‘Best Farm Animal made out of vegetables’ and ‘Best Rural Painting’.
The BM stand was well attended by landowners, farmers, and contractors from across the South East. Many of them were looking to find out about the wide range of services Batcheller Monkhouse provides. It was a terrific opportunity for those working in the agricultural industry to get together and network.
Our team had a brilliant day seeing both familiar and new faces from the surrounding villages. Discussions were had about the latest rural grants and legislation. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact our friendly team who would be more than happy to help.
If you would like to contact a specific member of staff who you spoke to on the day, you can find them here.
Thank you to everyone who visited us, we hope you had a fantastic time and we look forward to seeing you in 2024.
