Planning consent granted for a roof extension in London

The Project

Having secured planning consent for a roof extension Batcheller Monkhouse were asked to review the design in light of structural work required and associated costs in the original scheme. Working closely with the project architect, Batcheller Monkhouse planners helped to formulate a revised design which swapped the previously approved vertical rooftop extension on top of original mansard roof for a simpler continuous upward extension of the mansard roof. The introduction of dormer windows was the subject of extensive negotiation with London Borough of Barnet. Following a period of negotiation resulting in minor alterations to the size and positioning of the dormer, the LPA eventually accepted that this element offered the most appropriate design solution and one that most closely reflected the existing pattern of development in the immediate locality. Through effective dialogue and negotiation, Batcheller Monkhouse were able to secure planning consent within the standard 8 week target timeframe for minor applications.
