Rural Consultancy
Farming and rural business rarely stand still.
Our rural consultancy team advises farmers, landowners and rural businesses across Kent, Sussex and Surrey. Whatever is on your mind this year, from tenancies to diversification, we are here for that conversation.
Advice for a changing countryside
If you farm, own land or run a rural business, rural consultancy advice earns its place exactly when the ground keeps shifting: subsidies, costs and tax rules are all changing at once, in a policy landscape that never settles. The decisions you make in the next few years will shape your business for decades, and we are here to help you make them with confidence.
We are land agents and rural surveyors advising farmers, landowners and rural businesses across Kent, Sussex and Surrey, from tenancies and farm business structures to diversification, succession planning and grant schemes. We also carry out farm business reviews, assessing how ready an enterprise is to meet what is coming next. Our RICS and CAAV qualified team’s advice is grounded in decades spent on the farms and estates of the South East.
Whatever is on your mind this year, start with a conversation.

Common questions about rural consultancy
A rural consultant advises farmers, landowners and rural businesses on the practical and financial side of running land, from farm business structure and tenancies to grant schemes, diversification and succession. It is less about a single transaction and more about the ongoing decisions that shape how an estate or farm performs over time.
The terms overlap in practice. Most rural consultants, ourselves included, are also qualified land agents and Chartered Surveyors, so the advice covers both the strategic side (structure, tax, grants) and the practical side (tenancies, valuations, day-to-day management).
Yes. We advise everyone from smallholders and individual farm businesses through to larger estates and institutional landowners across Kent, Sussex and Surrey.
The Basic Payment Scheme is being phased out in England in favour of Environmental Land Management (ELM) schemes, which pay for environmental outcomes rather than land area. It is a significant shift for anyone whose income has relied on BPS, and one worth planning for early.
That is covered by our dedicated Grants & Environmental Schemes service, alongside the wider rural consultancy advice covered here.
