The Changing Of The Guard
Charles Thacker joined Robert Batcheller in founding the firm of Batcheller Thacker 1991. Since then the firm has developed and grown from strength to strength. Firstly with the acquisition of the Tunbridge Wells office followed shortly by the establishment of the professional department with the arrival of Leo Hickish and Tom Bodley Scott. Charles then helped lead the growth of the firm opening up a new office in Haywards Heath in 2008.
The next major growth was the hugely successful merger with Monkhouse and Bannister in 2011, at which time Charles formally took the role as Managing Partner and the firm became Batcheller Monkhouse.
From the 1 June 2020 Charles retires as a Partner, but is to stay on as a consultant and finance officer; a critical role at any time.
Leo Hickish steps up formally now as Chairman with a particular responsibility for business growth and development but still working on the estate management and professional work that he loves. He will be assisted by the appointment of Don Cranfield as General Manager from the 1 July. Don will be responsible for the administrative side of the firm, joining us from Plumpton College.
We all wish to thank Charles for his exemplary leadership and work over many years, and particularly over the last few months with the disruption from Covid-19. His sound financial management and cool head has been essential. Let us hope we can all meet face to face soon to raise a glass to him.
We welcome this new leadership and we are excited for the future of the firm.
