Ploughing at Laughton Ploughing Match 2025
A Rainy but Remarkable Day
This year’s Laughton Ploughing Match was held on Wednesday 17th September at Norlington Farm in Ringmer, by kind permission of the Stroude Family. Another rainy day meant wellies were put to good use, but the showers did little to dampen the rural community’s spirit. Local businesses, countryside traditions, and lively conversations all came together in one place.
Community, Tradition and Learning

It was fantastic to catch up with so many familiar faces over Long Man Brewery beer and locally sourced pork pie at our stand, as well as to welcome new visitors throughout the day. Conversations ranged from the challenges facing farmers this year to opportunities in land and property management, giving our team the chance to share advice and insights while also listening to what matters most to the rural community.
The day featured everything from traditional ploughing competitions and heavy horse exhibits to fruit and vegetable competitions, a raffle, and the digger dangle activity. Batcheller Monkhouse were especially proud to sponsor the Education Section again this year, with our education boards providing local schoolchildren the chance to learn more about the countryside and farming.

Thank You from Batcheller Monkhouse
Thank you to everyone who visited our stand, shared a conversation, or joined in our ‘Farming: Fact or Fiction’ quiz. It’s these connections that make the Laughton Ploughing Match such a special date in the rural calendar. We look forward to many more opportunities to support and celebrate the countryside community.
